Meghan Nelson
Assistant Coach
Meghan Nelson enters her second year as an assistant coach for the University of Sioux Falls women’s basketball team.
Nelson is coach Traphagen’s top assistant, and focuses heavily on USF’s recruiting efforts. Nelson recently completed a five-year playing and coaching career at Southwest Minnesota State University.
As a freshman at SMSU, she appeared in 25 games, averaging 6.2 minutes per contest. In a sophomore year hampered by injuries, she appeared in the final two games for three minutes apiece and was given a medical redshirt because of the hardship. As a redshirt sophomore, she returned to the court and saw two starts over 26 games. She had a career-high 39 rebounds and averaged 1.5 points per game.
Her final two years at Southwest Minnesota State, she transitioned to the sideline, serving as a student assistant coaching fundamentals and position work, she also helped in recruiting. She also helped coordinate various summer camps for attendees aged from 8 to 18 while also volunteering in the community by refereeing elementary basketball games.
Nelson is also a fixture in the Christian community. As a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), she has prepared and delivered speeches for weekly gatherings and served as a counselor for various FCA sports camps.
Nelson graduated from SMSU in May 2007 with a degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance. She is currently pursuing her master’s of business administration. Hometown: Thief River Falls, MN

Tom Goehle
Assistant Coach
Tom Goehle enters his first season as an assistant coach at USF following 10 years of head coaching at Hills Beaver Creek High School in Hills, Minn.
Along with his high school coaching duties, Tom has spent many of the past 15 summers coaching, playing and taking teams overseas while doing sports ministry.
He has been able to coordinate trips and travel to many countries in Central and South America, as well as Southeast Asia, both through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Sports Ambassadors.
Coach Goehle has also been very involved in serving as a basketball, track and cross country clinician at many FCA camps in the Midwest. He currently is the Huddle Coach for the FCA at HBC.
In addition to his involvement with the FCA, Tom presently teaches health, science, and pe classes in Hills, where he also serves as the boys and girls head track and cross country coach.
Tom comes from a rich basketball heritage, as his father, Hugo Goehle, had surpassed 560 wins as a high school boys coach. Tom began his coaching career at Augustana College where he served as student assistant under Gary Thomas for 2 years following a playing career at Mankato State and Worthington Junior College.
Coach Goehle received his Bachelor’s Degree from Augustana College in 1993.

Chelsea DeVille
Graduate Assistant
Chelsea DeVille enters her first year as a graduate assistant on the University of Sioux Falls women's basketball team.
The Watertown, S.D. native joins USF after a standout career at Augusstana College in Sioux Falls. DeVille averaged seven points, four rebounds and 3.7 assists per game as a Viking. After red-shirting her first year, DeVille started every game her redshirt freshman season and earned North Central Conference Freshman of the Year recognition. DeVille battled a torn ACL as a junior but made a comeback to play her senior season.
DeVille played three seasons under current USF head coach Travis Traphagen at Augustana, before Traphagen made the move to USF.
DeVille is pursuing her Masters of Education at USF.
